God Damn You, Microsoft, I Want The New Build To Be Released

Kevin John Panzke (MSDN OS Level Subscriber).

I've seen him too! Anyway, MSDN and TechNet are NOT getting this build! Simple as!! They're only releasing it to show how Beta 2 will look to some degree, and that Beta 2 will have a whole load of fixed bugs that we reported in 5308 and previous to that.

Well Kevin,
Simply put, if you dropped out of the Tech beta, then you don't have any right to b1tch, whine, or complain about whether or not Microsoft chooses to release ANYTHING to MSDN. If you really wanted the latest builds, you should have sucked it up and stayed in the beta. But, you didn't. For the record, quit your whining. My instructor wants to load Vista up to show her Windows Operating System course what it looks like. Our college has a MSDN Academic Alliance subscription which is supposed to get Microsoft programs. Guess what? The version of Vista that they have is dated September 2005. I'm not even sure what build that is. So, you're doing better then people who pay a he11 of a lot more then you did for your subscription.
So, in short, quit your whining and be glad that you're getting SOMETHING. You could be out on your butt, wishing that you stayed in, and having to go to Chicago to see Vista (or read reviews of it in a magazine).

And, by the time you get 5342 released on MSDN (even if it's next week), they'll be releasing the April CTP. So, this will be a moot point to EVERYONE except for you.
And, NO I don't know anything that you don't know. I'm making the point that the April CTP will be out before they would finally decide to release this build to MSDN.

You get whingers like this on your beta test, yet people with some skills and patience, who are keen to feedback meaningful bug reports can't get onto anything but the most mundane MS betas :-( (the ones that every man and his dog get offered, like Monad..).

Some folks have little to do; they don't even consider language on public groups.

Wait'll you get chased around four or five newsgroups, and are accused of violating your NDA in every one of them. Then we'll see if you ask for calm. :-}

Oh let's just throw in the line as if someone's farted on the newsgroup... "Whoever smelt it, dealt it" LOL!

It's very nice, and a welcome replacement for the standard command shell, but it's not rivetting software when it comes to playing with new toys like operating systems or office suites... :-)

Kevin,
Ranting like this will get you nowhere. This release was not intended for MSDN or anywhere else. It is only available for technical beta sites.
As far as NDA violations, MS has stated that they wish us to talk freely about most everything that is Vista. There are few secrets. As anyone who has been around for MS OS beta testing, they have rarely met the original release dates. This delay is nothing new to the process.
The big question is why this build, and your inability to access it, seems to upset you so? Especially, since you resigned from the beta.
There are only two scenarios I can see... 1. Your a spoiled child, or 2. you have installed Vista on to a critical system that now needs updated. If it is the former, then please grow up and realize that you can't always get what you want. If it is the latter, you have disregarded the warnings that it should not be installed on production/critical systems. Either one is of your own design.
You are encouraged to get used to these types of builds. There will be more technical beta only, interim builds.
Thank you,
Randy Byrne

P.S. windows Vista Build 5342 Never should have even been spoken about in the Public Newsgroup's, if it is indeed for Technical Beta Tester's Only! Now that it got mentioned here, it's fair game, and I will continue to complain about it to Microsoft, that is until it gets released on MSDN!
